Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation, according to documents obtained by Fox News Digital. The filing, which took place on Tuesday, marks the two-year anniversary of the couple’s Georgia wedding ceremony. Lopez listed their separation date as April 26 and indicated that neither she nor Affleck should receive spousal support.
Lopez and Affleck originally tied the knot in a surprise Las Vegas wedding in July 2022. Court documents from that time revealed Lopez, listed as “Party 2,” requested a “new name” on their marriage certificate. Affleck, referred to as “Party 1,” is recorded as “Benjamin Geza Affleck,” while Lopez changed her name to “Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”
A month after their Las Vegas ceremony, the couple hosted a private backyard wedding at Affleck’s $8 million Georgia mansion. Only Lopez’s twins, Max and Emme, from her previous marriage to Marc Anthony, and Affleck’s three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner—Violet, Seraphina, and Sam—attended the event.
Lopez and Affleck first met while working on the film “Gigli” and were briefly engaged in 2002, with plans to marry in September 2003. However, they postponed the wedding and ultimately ended their relationship in early 2004.
