Under the PCB Central Punjab Cricket Association CM Punjab Talent Hunt Programme, PCB Under-16 Central Punjab Schools cricket Championship started at 18 districts of Punjab. In the opening ceremony Mr Abdullah Sumble, Provincial Secretary for Finance & Chairman PCB Central Punjab Cricket Association, Mr Ghulam Farid Secretary Education Punjab, Mr Kashif Mirza President All Pakistan Private Schools Federation, Mr Abdullah Khurrum Niazi CEO PCB Central Punjab Cricket Association, Mr Hussnain Abbas Mirza Chairman Lahore Schools System and other high officials of Government of the Punjab were present. Prime Minister Imran Khan also praised Central punjab cricket association on their efforts for the betterment of cricket in the form of school championship.

All Pakistan Private Schools Federation is representing for private schools in the event. Mr Kashif Mirza President All Pakistan Private Schools Federation is a part of organising team, and said that Central Punjab Cricket will be the hub of cricketing activities. On the recommendations of Mr Kashif Mirza President All Pakistan Private Schools Federation, the competent authority of CPCA had been pleased to notify 18-person as heads and representatives of APPSF for the concerned District for coordination and ensure presence of private schools in CPCA Schools Cricket Championship.

In the first match of the tournament played between Lahore School System versus Beacon-house School, Lahore School System has beaten Beacon-house School by 3 wickets. Muhammad Ali of Lahore School System was man of the match. About 162 schools teams from government and private schools are participating in the event. The teams are divided in different pools. The matches are being held in different Stadiums and grounds. 20-player from each team, are participating.
